ClinCheck is Align Technology’s treatment planning software for the Invisalign clear aligner system. Invisalign-trained dentists and orthodontists use it to review, modify and approve the 3D plan of tooth movements before Align manufactures the aligners. What it does
- Shows the planned tooth movements for every stage of Invisalign treatment as an animated 3D model of both arches.
- 3D Controls let the doctor move single teeth or groups of teeth (extrusion, intrusion, rotation, crown angulation, root torque, tip), lock teeth such as implants or crowns, expand or contract the arch, add or remove attachments and precision cuts, and control IPR and spacing.
- ClinCheck Live Update recalculates the plan after 3D Controls changes in about two minutes, so the doctor can approve it without waiting days for an Align technician.
- Plan Editor (for cases submitted with the Flex Rx form) lets the doctor change the treatment approach directly, compare versions side by side, and undo or redo changes.
- CBCT integration builds a 3D model with roots, crowns and bone from the patient’s scan data.
- In-Face Visualization and ClinCheck Smile Video show the planned result on the patient’s face in a photo or in a short video recorded in the Invisalign Practice App.

How dental teams use it
Review and approve a new case
- Scan the patient with an iTero scanner and submit the case with a Flex Rx prescription and your preferences template on the Invisalign Doctor Site.
- When the plan is ready, go to the Patient tab, select the patient and click “Open ClinCheck plan”.
- Play the staging, check the final position, attachments and IPR, then approve the plan. Approval starts aligner manufacturing.
Adjust a plan yourself in minutes
- Open the plan and switch to 3D Controls.
- Move the teeth that need changing, adjust attachments or IPR, and lock any tooth that must not move.
- Click Live Update. The revised plan appears in about two minutes, and you can approve it straight away. Written comments to the technician still take the usual turnaround of a few days.
Present the plan to the patient
- Record a 15–30 second video of the patient talking and smiling in the Invisalign Practice App.
- Submit the case with the iTero scan. The Smile Video appears in ClinCheck Pro with the plan.
- Use it chairside, together with the 3D staging, to explain the expected result.
Install and first run
- Become a provider: access requires an Invisalign provider account. Align’s onboarding includes a self-paced course and one-to-one sessions with clinical specialists.
- No installation: ClinCheck Pro runs in the cloud, so you always use the current version. Log in to the Invisalign Doctor Site from a PC, a Mac or an iPad.
- Mobile: install the Invisalign Practice App to review, modify and approve plans on a phone, and to record Smile Videos.

Limitations
