Dentisys is a small dental clinic management system published on GitHub by the user xxxluloxxx, with commits signed by Paul Arias. It is a web application in two repositories: a Java Spring Boot back end (90 commits) and a Vue 3 front end (113 commits). Both were developed between April and July 2025 and have had no activity since 9 July 2025. There are no releases, no README for the back end and no English documentation, and the interface and code are in Spanish. It is a useful working example for developers and students, not a ready product for a dental practice.
If you searched for Dentisys or “DentiSys Lite”: there is no Lite desktop edition for Linux or macOS. This project is also unrelated to the Dutch commercial cloud service called Dentisys.

What it does
The following features are visible in the code and database schema (19 tables):
- Patients and doctors with list, create, edit and delete screens, plus users, roles, permissions and a role-based menu stored in the database.
- Appointments with start and end times and an agenda view.
- A dental record (ficha odontológica) for each patient, with procedures and attached images. An odontogram screen was added in the last days of development.
- Products and categories, and quotes (proformas) with line items, VAT and discount.
- Payments and collections, income and expense accounts, banks, and a screen for paying specialists.
- Dashboard charts, such as appointments by week and by weekday and quote statistics.
- A REST API with structured error responses (described in Spanish in MANEJO_DE_ERRORES.md) and a Postman collection.
How developers and students can use it
Run a local demo
- Start a PostgreSQL server and create a database. Load esquema.sql and then datos.sql, which adds fictional sample clinic data.
- Edit application-dev.properties so the back end points to your own database, then build and run it with the Maven wrapper or the included Dockerfile.
- In the front end, set your API address in src/config/api.config.js, then run
npm installandnpm run dev.
Study a typical Spring and Vue architecture
- Follow one entity, such as the appointment (Cita), through its controller, service, repository, DTO and MapStruct mapper in the back end.
- Compare it with the matching Vue page, composable and service in the front end.
Install and first run: gotchas
- The committed configuration files point to the author’s own servers. Replace every connection setting with your own and never deploy with the committed values.
- The server time zone is fixed to America/Guayaquil in the configuration.
- The Docker Compose files are split into database, development and production files and are tailored to the author’s deployment. They are not a one-command installer.
- Some pages in the front end are still demo screens from the Sakai template (UI kit and landing pages).
Limitations
- No releases, no licence and no activity since July 2025.
- No automated tests in the back-end repository.
- Spanish only. There is no English interface or documentation.
- No DICOM or X-ray imaging integration, insurance claims or e-prescribing.
- No security review. It should not hold real patient data without a thorough audit.
