Medit Link

Medit Link is Medit’s platform for clinics and dental labs that work with Medit intraoral and desktop scanners. It manages patients, cases and lab orders, runs the scanning software, and connects clinics with their partner labs through Medit’s cloud. For in-house 3D printing, Medit Link is where a scan becomes a printable model file, through Medit apps such as Model Builder, before it goes to a printer’s software. Medit Link is shareware (conditionally free). The software and a basic account cost nothing, and the account includes 2 GB of cloud storage. How dental teams use it

Scan and print a model in the clinic

1. Create the patient and case in Medit Link, then scan with Medit Scan for Clinics.
2. Open Medit Model Builder from the App Box. It can generate a ready-to-print model automatically, detects edentulous arches, and aligns single or full arches with AI.
3. Export the model as STL and open it in your printer’s software, for example Formlabs PreForm, Asiga Composer or CHITUBOX. If your printer is integrated, send it directly, as with Rapid Shape Print Studio.

Send a case to a lab

1. Search for your lab under Partners and send a partnership request.
2. Fill in the order form for the case and send it. Use Case Talk for questions and check the status in the Order Box.

Lab: receive and process cases

New orders arrive in the lab’s In Box, and cases in progress are managed in the Work Box. From there the technician opens the data in the lab’s CAD software and talks to the clinic through Case Talk. Labs can also scan models and impressions with Medit T-series desktop scanners through Medit Scan for Labs.

Install and first run

1. Sign up and log in to Medit Link Web at meditlink.com.
2. Click the download button at the bottom left of the web app to get the Medit Link App installer.
3. Install and sign in. Then install the apps you need from the App Box.

Medit’s requirements for the app on Windows are 64-bit Windows 10 or later (32-bit is not supported), an Intel Core i5 2.6 GHz or faster, 16 GB RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 (2 GB) or equivalent. On a Mac, Medit lists an Apple M1 chip, 16 GB RAM and macOS Sonoma 14 or later. For scanning, the PC must also meet the stricter requirements of Medit Scan for Clinics or Medit Scan for Labs. Medit Link Express is a separate, simplified scanning system on iPad and Mac for i900-family scanners, installed from the Apple App Store.

Limitations

• Scanning needs Medit hardware. Without a scanner, Medit Link is mainly a case, order and viewing platform.
• Only 2 GB of cloud storage is free. The Essential App Bundle, larger storage and some features are paid.
• Sharing between clinics and labs depends on the cloud. Check that this fits your data-protection policy.
• It is not a slicer. Printing still needs the printer maker’s software or an integrated partner app.

Medit Link vs alternatives

TRIOS users work in 3Shape Unite, which also comes free with the scanner, has its own app store, and prepares printable models with 3Shape Model Maker. 3Shape Communicate is 3Shape’s older clinic–lab portal, still used by labs that run 3Shape Dental System.
